Exam Structure
The NBE Diploma in Respiratory Medicine exam is designed to test your knowledge and clinical skills comprehensively. The exam consists of the following components:
1st Half (9-1pm)
1. Long Cases
- In the first half 9-1pm you will be allotted 4 Long cases
- Each case is worth 40 marks, making a total of 160 marks.
2nd half (2-5pm)
1. Short cases / ICU cases
- There are going to be 4 short cases
-Here the PG will give you brief history of the patient
The examiners will ask you specific questions or ask to demonstrate specific examination findings or management
- Each case is worth 20 marks, totaling 80 marks.
2. Viva Voice
- The viva voice section is divided into four table vivas, each worth 15 marks, making a total of 60 marks:
* Table 1: Drugs.
Know all the drugs.
* Table 2: Charts
Spirometry, DLCo, Lung volumes , FOT , ABG interpretation
* Table 3:Instruments : Usage of common instruments, oxygen delivery Delivery devices, BiPAP/CPAP, Bronchoscopes
* Table 4 : Imaging: Interpretation of X-rays, CT Thorax etc
Tips:
You are advised to reach by 8am at the examination centre
Have your breakfast prior to your exam
Minimum Passing Marks
To pass the NBE Diploma in Respiratory Medicine exam, you need to score at least 150 out of 300 marks. It's essential to distribute your preparation time effectively across all sections to ensure you meet the passing criteria.
