To succeed in the NBE Diploma Pediatrics exam, it is essential to have a clear understanding of the exam format in order to plan your study approach strategically. Below is a detailed overview of what you should anticipate in the exam:





Exam Structure

The NBE Diploma in Pediatrics exam is designed to test your knowledge and clinical skills comprehensively. The exam consists of the following components:

1. Cases

- You will be presented with 2 clinical cases.

- Each case is worth 75 marks, making a total of 150 marks.


2. Ward Rounds

- There are 2 ward rounds included in the exam.

  • Emergency Area: Acute management of emergencies, quick decision-making, and stabilization techniques.

  • NICU: Care of neonates, managing preterm infants, respiratory distress, and other common neonatal issues.

  • OPD: Routine pediatric check-ups, vaccination schedules, growth and development assessments, and common outpatient conditions.

- Each ward round is worth 25 marks, totaling 50 marks.


3. Viva Voice

- The viva voice section is divided into four parts, each worth 25 marks, making a total of 100 marks:

  • NRP and Neonatology: Protocols for neonatal resuscitation, handling neonatal emergencies, and standard neonatal care practices.

  • Social Pediatrics and Vaccines: National immunization programs, child health programs, and social determinants of health.

  • Instruments and Drugs: Usage of common pediatric instruments, drug calculations, IV fluid management, and oxygen delivery systems.

  • Imaging: Interpretation of X-rays, ECGs, and possibly other imaging modalities like CTs and MRIs.


Minimum Passing Marks

To pass the NBE Diploma in Pediatrics exam, you need to score at least 150 out of 300 marks. It's essential to distribute your preparation time effectively across all sections to ensure you meet the passing criteria.
